v The femtosecond laser system consists of a femtosecond laser amplifier (CARBIDE) and an optical parametric amplifier (ORPHEUS‑HP). CARBIDE is an industrial femtosecond laser combining 40 W output power and 400 μJ pulse energies. It maintains all the best features: tunable base repetition rate of the amplifier from 1Hz to 1MHz, a built‑in pulse picker for pulse-on-demand control, computer controllable pulse duration 290fs–10ps. ORPHEUS‑HP is a collinear optical parametric amplifier of white‑light continuum pumped by PHAROS laser. The device is a modified version of the ORPHEUS, with UV‑VIS tuning range frequency mixers integrated into a thermally‑stabilized monolithic housing. ORPHEUS‑HP also provides the option of generating deep ultraviolet pulses (190nm–215nm), in addition to 210nm–2600nm. This system provides laser light source for ultrafast transient absorption
v Ultrafast transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy studies the electronic dynamics by probing the absorption change related to photo-excitation. The technique is configured in conventional pump-probe geometry with an ultrashort laser split into two beams. The stronger beam is routed to an OPA to detune the wavelength of pump beam which excites the sample to generate a non-equilibrium state. The weaker beam is used to generate broadband supercontinuum which monitors the pump-induced changes in optical response (such as transmission or reflectivity) of the sample. The relaxation of electronic states in sample is obtained by measuring the pump-induced changes as a function of time delay between the arrival of pump and probe pulses. Details could be found in this LINK.
